About Afrikindness
Afrikindness is an award-winning, UK-registered educational children’s charity delivering trusted, high-impact work across the UK and Africa.
Our mission is to foster positive racial identity development in children and young people by partnering with parents, schools, and communities to create safer, kinder, and more inclusive environments where every child can thrive.
Afrikindness is recognised for its commitment to tackling complex social and racial issues through education, early intervention, advocacy, and community partnership. We work across schools, families, and communities to address racism, inequality, bullying, safeguarding concerns, and identity-based harm at their roots — while strengthening belonging, wellbeing, and long-term outcomes for children and young people.
At a time when children and young people are facing increasing pressures around safeguarding, mental health, education, and identity, we believe systems must move beyond awareness toward meaningful action and culturally responsive support. Through conferences, training, workshops, youth-led projects, research, and community engagement, we empower both children and the adults around them with the knowledge, confidence, and tools to build inclusive futures.
About Afrikindness Parenting and Inclusion Conference (APIC)
The Afrikindness Parenting and Inclusion Conference (APIC) is a groundbreaking initiative launched in 2025 to spotlight the challenges, barriers, and strengths within culturally diverse families—especially those raising neurodiverse children.
While the conference places a strong emphasis on supporting neurodiverse families, it is designed for all parents and carers who want to deepen their understanding of parenting in today’s multicultural society.
This event offers an inclusive space to explore topics around cultural identity, neurodiversity, safeguarding, education, child development, mental health, behavioural challenges, and access to support services. Through interactive workshops, keynote speakers, and one-on-one advisory sessions, attendees will leave with practical tools, renewed confidence, and a stronger connection to their community.
Whether you’re navigating a diagnosis, looking for parenting support, or seeking to better understand your child’s needs—this conference is for you.
APIC 2025
Beyond Assumptions: Rethinking Parenting, Culture & Professional Care
The inaugural APIC 2025 conference brought together parents, professionals, councillors, organisations, and community leaders for a powerful day of learning, reflection, disruptive conversations, and collaboration. Through keynote talks, workshops, exhibitions, youth engagement, lived experiences, and plenary discussions, the conference explored themes including neurodiversity, mental health, safeguarding, parenting, cultural identity, and inclusive professional practice.
APIC 2025 created a strong foundation for deeper community engagement and strategic conversations around inclusion and support for families.
APIC 2026
Beyond Assumptions 2.0: Reimagining Parenting, Youth Voice & Professional Practice
Too often, assumptions continue to widen the gap between families, young people, and the services designed to support them. APIC 2026 brings together parents, young people, professionals, and changemakers to challenge stereotypes, confront biases and cultural misconceptions, and rethink how we build inclusive systems of care.
This year, we are intentionally creating space for youth voice, exploring themes of belonging, identity, neurodiversity, safeguarding, and professional practice through lived experiences and honest dialogue.
It’s time to listen, learn, and lead—together.
This conference reimagines how professionals, communities, and young people can collaborate for the wellbeing of every child and parent. Together, we will break barriers, strengthen trust, and shape more inclusive communities where every child, young person, and family feels seen, heard, and supported.
